How has the Pandemic Affected You? Share your Midwifery Covid Story
The McMaster Midwifery Research Centre (MMRC), in collaboration with the Health Sciences Archives (HSA), is launching a Midwifery Covid Stories Project. We want to be able to preserve & share the experiences of midwives and midwifery students during the Covid-19 pandemic as a way to remember, to give space for, and to amplify our stories during this historic time.

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE?
Any midwife or midwifery student in Canada can submit their story.
WHAT FORMAT/ TYPE OF STORY CAN I SHARE?
Your story can be shared in any format you can imagine …
- written story, journal
- audio and video stories
- media coverage you were in involved in, your twitter feed
- photos, artwork
- poetry, lyrics, music
- textiles
- policy, professional documentation
- meeting minutes, reports, letters and correspondence
WHAT TYPES OF STORIES ARE YOU INTERESTED IN?
We are interested in all aspects of how the pandemic has impacted your life and work. Examples include:
- How your daily work has changed
- What it is like being a midwifery student, preceptor, educator at this time
- What initiatives did you undertake to help vulnerable populations
- Day-to-day life experiences and how they have changed
- How the pandemic has impacted pregnancy, birth, postpartum
- What were some of the hardest moments or the greatest joys
DO I HAVE TO MAKE MY MATERIALS AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH?
Archives regularly accept sensitive material and have procedures in place to keep it confidential until such a time that it can be made open. In the meantime, we can keep the materials safe. We can discuss your privacy concerns at the time of donation and work out appropriate closure restrictions.
