MMRC Scientist and Fellow secure funding to research midwifery outcomes in Ontario
Dr. Liz Darling and Kate Demers were both awarded Association of Ontario Midwives Research Grants.
Dr. Liz Darling, MMRC Scientist and Assistant Dean of the Midwifery Education Program, was awarded the Career Midwifery Research Grant and will be investigating neonatal and maternal outcomes between planned home birth, planned hospital birth between midwives and physicians. Her research will also identify sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with planning home birth.
Kate Demers, MMRC Fellow and Assistant Professor in the Midwifery Education Program was award the Mentored Midwifery Research Grant, where she will be examining clinical outcomes associated with early loss when managed by midwives practicing within the expanded scope model.
